Join us for a dessert-potluck, a brief update on our progress to date, and a screening of Locally Grown: The Lexington Co-op Story (35 mins) on Wednesday, August 1 at 8pm at the Hill St. Community Garden!
The Lexington Co-op is just across the border in Buffalo, NY. The co-op was formed in 1971 by members who wanted access to whole foods at reasonable prices. Since then it has evolved from an entirely member run organization to a fully functioning grocery store with paid staff. Members of the Lexington Co-op can take pride in a $20 Billion Natural Foods Industry that they pioneered with their dedication, hard work, and cooperation!
We’d love to see you there! Please bring a lawn chair or blanket, a dessert to share, and your friends!
If we need to cancel due to weather, we’ll update the blog by 5pm that day.
I wish I could have joined you last night, but had another commitment. I did however, watch the video on Lexington Co-op and am very impressed. It would be wonderful to have something similar here in Hamilton. Although I currently have limited time available to volunteer, I’m hoping I can become more active in the near future. Kudos to you for working to develop this initiative!
Thanks so much for your encouragement Jane!
