Anneli with blueberries from her backyard
We are sharing a series of profiles to introduce some of the volunteers who have put their time and energy into The Mustard Seed Cooperative Grocery. Enjoy this glimpse into our Co-op community!
Name: Anneli Kaethler
Action Team: Sourcing Team
What roles have you had in the development of The Mustard Seed? My partner and I became members the day after the Membership Launch. As part of the Sourcing Committee, I’ve been contacting potential fruit and vegetable suppliers (i.e. farmers!) to find out more about them, the products they grow, and also telling them a little bit about The Mustard Seed.
What drew to The Mustard Seed, and why do you volunteer? I was drawn to the Mustard Seed because of the business model and sourcing priorities. I want to be part of a socially and environmentally responsible business that makes a difference in our community. I volunteer because it feels great to be part of something so positive, with strong and enthusiastic leadership.
Day Job: I support people on their health journeys as a Dietitian within the Hamilton Family Health Team.
What element of The Mustard Seed are you most excited about? The transparency of where our food comes from and the connection with community.
What is your favourite local food? Only one?…
Why should people join the Co-op today? Joining before doors open is a stamp of approval for the vision of the Co-op, a ‘high 5’ to the volunteers that have put in THOUSANDS of hours, and an embrace of a grass-roots community-building adventure.
