Store opening date
Our members have made tremendous progress getting the Mustard Seed Co-op ready since we got the keys on October 15th. We had an ambitious target of opening before Christmas, but it now seems that’s just not feasible. A number of things like refrigeration equipment have longer lead times than first anticipated. However, these delays have actually saved us a significant amount of money, as we have researched alternative solutions and found better options.
Despite delays, we’re confident that The Mustard Seed Co-op is coming together. We will be fixed, finished, and fully stocked ready for opening on Friday January 24th. Imagine, that is only two months from now! So if you have a few hours to volunteer to paint, connect some fixtures, or stock our shelves in the weeks ahead, please let us know! Email email@example.com to get on our volunteer list.
Gift basket orders coming soon!
Want to get a preview taste of some great local products that will be on our shelves? Co-op Holiday Gift Bags make a great present for yourself or your friends; give a selection of unique local foods this holiday season.
Tastefully packaged in our new jute reusable shopping bags, products will include snacks, treats, and pantry or holiday staples. It is a perfect gift while being a conversation piece about our soon-to-open Co-op.
We will post details on the Gift Bag contents and prices shortly, so stay tuned.
Lend a hand
An amazing crew of volunteers and local professionals are working hard to create a beautiful store stocked with the best local, wholesome food in Hamilton. We are still looking for professionals to donate particular skills in the coming weeks. If you are an electrician, plumber, tiler, painter, or have experience laying flooring – please email Richard and he will be in touch!
We are having volunteer work bees every Saturday from 1-5 pm at 460 York Blvd. Some of the tasks so far have included cleaning, deconstructing old coolers, and re-purposing salvaged wood boards. In the coming weeks we will be building shelving, cleaning, assembling bulk displays, painting, and setting up everything. No experience necessary, so come lend a hand if you are able!
