Hiring news: General Manager & Local Food Manager!
After an extensive search that included applicants from across North America, the Board of Directors is excited to announce that Richard Adshead will be The Mustard Seed Co-op’s first General Manager.
A native Hamiltonian, Richard got involved with The Mustard Seed in early September 2012. He volunteered with both the operations and location teams, helped develop the Co-op’s business plan, and was a founding Board member. Richard’s 15 years of senior management experience includes expertise in strategic planning, retail management, budgeting, fiscal planning, and employee development. Richard is thrilled to be combining his passions for local and wholesome foods, entrepreneurial business, and positive social impact by leading The Mustard Seed as General Manager.
Damian Wills has been hired as our Local Food Manager. Damian combines extensive experience purchasing for local food retail with a wealth of expertise preparing seasonally inspired menus. He has held multiple positions as an Executive Chef at restaurants such as 1800 Degrees Modern Steak House in Toronto and Beertown Public House in Waterloo. Damian will build relationships with our local producers while developing the education programs and menus for our kitchen.
As we interview and hire our Retail Sales Clerk staff in the coming weeks, we are confident that a strong team will get The Mustard Seed off to a solid start on January 24, 2014!

Saturday Work Bees!
On Saturdays from 1:00-5:00pm we are hosting member-volunteer Work Bees at 460 York Blvd. There are various hands-on tasks coming up like cleaning, painting, laying tile, assembling shelving, and stocking shelves. You don’t need experience in order to help, just a willing heart. They are also a great way to meet fellow members of the Co-op. Click here if you are interested in being on an email list about upcoming Work Bee projects.
We were excited to have our November 23 Work Bee captured on the CHCH evening news. You can watch the coverage by following this link. Thanks to Elise for coming out to showcase our co-op!
